In our first meeting, our group (we are yet to think of a team name on which everyone agrees) focused on understanding the task ahead and learning about what we have to complete it with. After we got to know each other, we discussed the rules and goals of this year's FIRST competition. Then, we "messed around" with our parts, figuring out how they fit together and how they work. Next, we discussed on our general approach to building the robot, and decided to focus on making it mainly autonomous, as the autonomous section of the competition is worth twice as many points as the manual section. Also, as shown above, each present group member was given their own task. For our next meeting, we're going to focus mainly on the design of our robot, and perhaps start to build one of the demo robots in the instruction manual to get a feel for how we're going to put together our robot for the competition.
1st Meeting: Monday, 11/08/10, 3:10-4:15 P.M.
